Hackers managed to jailbreak iPhone X on iOS 11.2.1

Despite the declining interest in jailbreaking, security experts continue to actively search for new vulnerabilities in iOS that could help hack Apple’s mobile operating system. Experts from Pandora Labs Alibaba shared their success the other day. They managed to jailbreak an iPhone X running iOS 11.2.1 and install the Cydia store on it.

The specialists did not share all the details. However, they noted that in iOS 11.1, they bypassed system security by using the mach_zone_force_gc interface and starting the GC core. But with newer versions of its mobile operating system, Apple closed this loophole, and experts had to find new ways to hack iOS.

At the moment, it is difficult to say if Pandora Labs Alibaba will share any details about the methods of jailbreaking iOS 11.2.1. Especially considering that before that they claimed that they did not plan to release a public utility for jailbreaking.

Also not so long ago, one of the developers of the Google Zero project discovered a vulnerability in iOS 11 that could help in creating a jailbreak. Many believe that this find will help in creating a utility for jailbreaking iOS up to version 11.1.2.
