Over the past couple of days, several sources have spoken out at once regarding the screens of the iPhone 12. True, the rumors are radically different from each other. In one case, sources report a reduction in power consumption, and in another, Apple plans to release a screen with ProMotion technology and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
According to the Korean website The Elec, the next Apple smartphone will receive a display made of low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO). These screens are characterized by low power consumption. A similar effect is achieved by turning off unused pixels. Thus, energy consumption is reduced by about 15-20%.
Now LTPO displays are already used in Apple smartwatches. It is thanks to the LTPO technology that the Always-On-Display support appeared in Apple Watch Series 5. It is possible that something similar in the future may be implemented in the iPhone.
In contrast, the Taiwanese resource DigiTimes reports on Apple’s plans to equip the iPhone 12 with a display with ProMotion technology and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Now Cupertinos use similar displays in the iPad Pro.
