Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that one supplier of lenses for future Apple smartphones is having serious product quality issues. However, this should not affect the iPhone 12 release schedule.
According to Kuo, there were problems with Genius Electronic Optical products. In particular, with glass, which should cover the wide-angle lenses in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max. After a series of tests, it turned out that the glass does not tolerate temperature changes and can crack at high temperature or humidity.
Another glass supplier, Largan, does not face similar problems. It is possible that it is to this manufacturer that Apple will transfer most of the orders for the necessary components. In addition, Kuo believes that even if Genius resolves its quality problems, the company is likely to have to revise its prices in order to recover the lost share of orders.
Recall that last week, Apple representatives officially confirmed rumors about the delay of new iPhones. Cupertinos noted that new items will be on sale a few weeks later.
