In recent years, the popularity of jailbreak has been gradually declining. Moreover, it becomes uninteresting to both ordinary users and developers who actively participated in the creation of extensions and utilities for hacking iOS. The closure of two large repositories with tweaks also indicates a decrease in interest in jailbreak. Today representatives of ModMyi and ZodTTD / MacCiti announced the freeze of their projects.
According to reports, ModMyi and ZodTTD / MacCiti will no longer accept new extensions from 24 November. At the same time, existing tweaks will be available for some time.
As for the largest repository in existence at the moment – BigBoss – it will continue to work normally and will accept new extensions from developers. However, some are already suggesting that it will be frozen in the next couple of years.
Recall that over the past year, the jailbreak community has left several well-known developers at once, and in the summer of this year, Cydia store creator Jay Freeman noted that the jailbreak is “dead”. According to Freeman, to date, Apple has already integrated into iOS quite a lot of popular functions, for which users jailbreak.
