Which phone is the best camera? iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 11

We have already talked many times about what the new second generation iPhone SE is and even compared it with other models of Apple smartphones. We showed how it shoots photos compared to the iPhone 11 Pro. This comparison, first of all, was interesting due to the fact that the cost of the devices differs by more than two times. We also made a comparison with the iPhone X camera, which was interesting for those who wanted to see what he would gain in terms of camera if he now updated his device, which is already two and a half years old. All these comparisons showed that the beginner’s camera behaves very decently (links to comparisons will be inside this article). Now it’s time to show how the new iPhone SE’s second generation camera compares to what the closest current iPhone has to offer. I’m talking about the iPhone 11.

The comparison of these two smartphones is the most interesting.

How the iPhone SE 2 differs from the iPhone 11

Both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE 2 are roughly the same devices. They both run on the A13 Bionic processor and have the same performance. There are only two global differences between smartphones. The first is the screen, which the iPhone 11 has a different look and a larger diagonal (6.1 versus 4.7 inches). If you look at Apple’s website, the iPhone 11 has a Liquid Retina HD screen, and the second-generation iPhone SE is just Retina HD, but the rest of the specifications, including color gamut, contrast and pixel density, are completely identical. Subjectively, it seemed to me that the iPhone 11 screen is slightly brighter, but the difference is minimal. Both displays are made using IPS technology.

The second important difference is the camera. Not even the quality of the images, which we will now talk about separately, but the number of modules. The iPhone 11 has two, while the second-generation iPhone SE has only one. The second module of the “eleventh” is used for shots with an ultra-wide angle of view. The pictures are good. He really helps sometimes, and if I choose from versirik and telephoto, I would choose the first one. If you need both, then you need the iPhone 11 Pro – there are all three modules in one case.

The front-end of both smartphones is good.

There are other differences between the models, which are not so significant. Even the 50 gram difference in weight isn’t as striking as the screen and cameras. Otherwise, everything is the same. There is wireless charging, glass body and storage capacities of 64, 128 and 256 GB. The difference in price is 20,000 rubles. (39,990 rubles versus 59,990 rubles for the basic version).

Comparison of cameras iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 11

I will say right away that the difference between the cameras is not very big, as it was before, when comparing the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone X, as well as the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 11 Pro. Although, probably, the difference between shooting with a conventional module is a little more pronounced here. In the iPhone 11, the angle is slightly wider than in the iPhone SE 2. It is not critical, but in comparison with other models, the difference was generally almost imperceptible.

I noticed a slight difference in favor of the iPhone 11 in the speed of adjusting the white balance exposure, but it cannot be called critical. In general, the speed of both cameras is quite high, and all the above images were specially taken according to the principle of “take out, take off, take away”. This is exactly how, without aiming, the lion’s share of photos is taken on a smartphone. You can view and compare the originals of the photos in a special folder at this link.

Below are examples of photos taken with these two smartphones. Note that some shots come out a little more contrasting and warmer on the iPhone 11. The difference is minimal, but if you’re looking for similarities or differences, you can’t help saying that.

How iPhone SE 2 shoots in the dark

When it comes to shooting in the dark, the biggest difference lies in how the cameras handle light sources. On the iPhone 11, they are a little more expressive. And not so dirty. In this case, the camera on both smartphones was wiped.

The biggest difference in darkness is related to the night view function. It really allows you to achieve more expressive picture. This function is implemented in software and its absence in the second generation iPhone SE is caused rather by Apple’s desire to somehow distance smartphones. You can’t blame her for this, because you can say about everything, “well, this could have been added” and in the end make the iPhone 11 Pro, but only not to raise the price. An inexpensive product, it is an inexpensive product with all the consequences, including reduced features.

Portrait Mode iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 11

The portrait mode generally has its own characteristics and it so happens that sometimes it shoots worse, and sometimes better, since the function is largely based on software image processing. Therefore, it is difficult to compare cameras. I gave an example of photos that turned out without a long “aiming” and preparation. You can compare for yourself the difference in portrait mode when shooting with the main and front cameras of the second generation iPhone SE and iPhone 11.

Which iPhone has the best camera

As a comparison of the second-generation iPhone SE cameras with the iPhone X, iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro showed, the difference in shooting modern cameras is not so big as to say that one shoots well and the other does not. Yes, from the above examples, the iPhone 11 Pro does have a better camera. The picture on it turns out to be good, and the number of functions makes you nod your head approvingly.

At the same time, if you take into account that the iPhone SE 2 costs more than half the price of the flagship, you realize that you probably shouldn’t chase the camera. The difference in price between the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE 2 is less pronounced, but it is also there and, probably, proportionally it corresponds to the difference in photo quality. But, again, if this is not so critical for you, and the other differences are not so important, then perhaps you should not overpay.

Two smartphones worthy of each other.

For me, the main smartphone is the iPhone 11 Pro, although now I am using the second generation iPhone SE to get my impression of it and prepare the user experience that will be released on our site in just a few days. While I do not regret that I chose my smartphone, although I understand that if I made a choice now, I would think hard. And all due to the fact that the technologies have become very dense and the difference between the flagship and a good average is not so big even within the products of the same manufacturer.

And I also realized for myself that I was ready to say thank you again to Apple for releasing the second generation of the iPhone SE, although I was initially skeptical and did not understand why everyone was waiting for it. By releasing it, the company not only smashed Thor’s hammer on its Android competitors, but also gave its fans a choice, which we all are.
